Hi! My name is Allison and I have been a Math teacher for the past 4 years and Math tutor for the past 15 years! I have such a passion for mathematics and love helping students build their confidence and excel in the subject! Most students and parents say my strengths are in my patience, enthusiasm, and ability to explain content in multiple ways. If something isn't working, I don't give up but I also recognize the student may need it presented in a different way. That's one of the reasons why I love Math so much, there is a ton of creativity one can bring to the problem solving process. I am all about getting to know the learner as an individual so that the assistance can be specifically tailored to them. I am always open to feedback as well. I want the learner to tell me what works and doesn't work for them. Communication is key!
Experience
I have been a Math Teacher for the past four years and a Math tutor at all grade-levels for the past 15 years. I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Economics with a Minor in Mathematical Sciences from Michigan Technological University. I then went on to earn a Master's Degree in Education from Marquette University. I recently completed a two-year teaching fellowship through Stanford University for excellence in teaching. I am comfortable in all Math subjects from elementary to high school!
