So, here we could use S as a symbol for strawberry granola bar and C as a symbol for the cherry granola bar
6S+4C=6.90. 5S+9C=9.15. Then we just make sure the amount of S is the same so we could eliminate one of the variable now and find variable C first.
So, we make sure both equations have 30 S. By doing that, we multiply 6S+4C=6.90 by 5 to get 30S+20C=34.5 and then for the equation 5S+9C=9.15 we multiply by 6 to get 30S+54C=54.9
30S+20C=34.5 and we make 30S+20C=34.5 multiplied by a negative sign -30S-20C=-34.5
Then we add both equations together and we get 34C=20.4 C=20.4/34 C=0.6
Here we found out that the cherry granola bar is $ 0.6 and we now could use it to find how much does the strawberry one cost
Go back to the original equation 6S+4C=6.90 we now could use C=0.6 so it should be 6S+4(0.6)=6.90
6S=4.5 S=4.5/6=0.75 S=0.75
Therefore, the strawberry granola bar is $ 0.75.
