Math Question: Hoping someone can shed light for me if I am doing this calculation correct. I hope this is the place to ask.. I need to figure out if a structure falls where along its height will it hit a suspended ball in the air. I was using ????2+????2=????2 based on the following information I have (see photo as well to see my thought process). The ball is 467? in the air. The elevation under the ball is 426. The straight line length from the structure to the ball is 55.63. The elevation under the structure varies from 430 to 427. (I was using 430 for calculation but maybe this is a wrong thought.) So I calculated: ????2= Height of ball minus ground height under structure (used 430)= 37? B^2= Distance to ball from structure point = 55.63? C= 66.7 Am I correct in that whatever the structure height is at that location, at 66.7???????? it will hit the ball if the structure falls. I have a nagging feeling I should be using a different triangulation method but am really unsure of it all to be honest.
