## Answers

Hello,
I would start by defining the variables:
x = age of the watercolor
x + 16 = age of the oil painting
3x = age of the oil painting
Then set the two ages of the oil painting equal and solve for x.
3x = x + 16
2x = 16
x = 8
The watercolor is 8 years old and the oil paining is 24.
Hope that helps!
