I'm going to assume that the 3x4 is 3x^4 and 9x4 is 9x^4 for this problem. Add together the numbers (coefficients) of the terms with the same exponets, so (-3x^4+9x^4) + (5x-3x) + (9+7) is equal to 6x^4+2x+16
