47 x 83 = 3901 If you were to stack these two numbers in a multiplication problem then you would want to start by multiplying 7 and 3 together, which would equal 21. Write down your 1 beneath the line and carry 2 above the 4 in the top left corner. Now multiply 4 x 3 and don't forget to add your 2, that equals 14. Now beneath your 3 put a 0 then multiply 7 x 8 which equals 56, write the 6 to the left of the 0 and carry 5 above the 4 in the top left corner. Now multiply 4 x 8 and add your 5, that equals 37. Now underneath your 47 and 83 you should have 141 and underneath that you should have 3760 add those two numbers together and you should have 3901, which is the correct answer.
