Lets take 3/4 of a pan of brownies and split it into thirds, so now we have 12ths in the bottom or denominator. Now, eat two parts of that group, and you've eaten six bits. Looking at this with arithmetic:
2/3 (of means times) 3/4 = 2/3 * 3/4, multiply the tops "numerators" = 6 multiply the bottoms " denominators" = 12 so 6/12. Now, 6 and 12 are divisible relative to one another, so eating those six bits of 12 is the same as eating 1/2 and so the answer is 1/2, or 2/3*3/4 = 1/2

The KEY WORD in this problem is the word "of". It implies multiplication.
2/3 x 3/4 = 6 / 12
This would reduce to 1/2.
Remember multiplication is top times top / bottom times bottom!
