In order for a compound proposition (statement) to be true using the AND connective, you need to have both individual statements be true. So, for p^q (read p and q) to be true, we would need both proposition p to come back as true AND proposition q to come back as true.
Let's create 2 sentences:
p - We are currently in the month of April.
q - It is still snowing in some parts of the United States.
So, p^q would be:
We are currently in the month of April and it is still snowing in some parts of the United States.
