if a equals 4,b equals 3,c equals -6,d equals 2 find the value of 2ab- 3cd
a=4
b=3
c= -6
d=2
This is simple substitution. You can get a whiteboard (they make foldable ones that fit in your pocket) you can write:
2ab- 3cd
with each letter in a square
2ab- 3cd
2[a][b]-3[c][d]
then erase a letter and write its numerical value in the square:
2[4][b]-3[c][d]=
2[4][3]-3[c][d]=
2[4][3]-3[-6][d]=
2[4][3]-3[-6][2]
then simplify:
2[4][3]-3[-6][2]=
2*4*3-3*(-6)*2=
8*3-6(-6)=
24 - (-36)=
24+36=60
