To find the area of a square you will want to multiply the length by the width. Say you have a square with 4 inch sides, Multiply 4 x 4 and your area will be 16 inches.
To find the area of a triangle multiply the length times the width and then divide by 2. Say you have a triangle with a length of 4 inches and a width of 3 inches, multiply those sides and you will get 12, now divide by 2 and you will have 6 inches for the area of the triangle.
