Is this to find the distance between these two points? If so, simply subtract the x's and the y's. Then square both of these results, then add them and take the square root.
X's: 2 - (-6) = 2 + 6 = 8
Y's: 1 - 1 = 0
Distance = sqrt(0^2 + 8^2) = sqrt(64) = 8
